Details
In almost all bodies of water, the carbonate hardness (KH) is significantly lower than the total hardness (GH). On average, the carbonate hardness is approximately 80% of the total hardness. In rare cases, there are ponds where the carbonate hardness is higher than the total hardness (ideally 11–12° dGH).
Important: Here, the total hardness must be increased to a value that is 1.2 times the carbonate hardness, e.g., with a KH of 8°, the GH value should be 9.6°.
